June TBR

Jumping in real quick to share my June TBR! Better late than never right? 😆.

I’ve actually gotten through The Hate U Give, Tell Me Three Things, Thick as Thieves and The Song of Achilles. I’m making great progress on the others!

.

Featured also is my reading tracker. I want to read diversely but also consistently on a daily basis. Having it tracked like this helps with seeing my progress for the month and also which books I gravitate toward. I also included a close-up of my layout, if you’d like a better look. Or you can check out my tag #jennfscurrentreadstracker!

.

It’s the last day of school! Yaaas! But I also realized my kids will be home and so I need to take pictures!! 😆

.

Do you have any favorite reads for this month so far? Do you have vacation plans for the summer?

.

May TBR

I’m a lister, planner, tracker and an unapologetic notebook and pen addict. What does this have to do with books and reading? WELLLLL, I love making TBR lists and using my notebook to plan and track what I read. (If you saw my previous post, I included my disc bound notebook and Genre Tracker layout.) I usually post my reading tracker for the month with my TBR, but I still have to make mine for May. 😅 But I do have my TBR to share! .

Most of these are books from April that I didn’t get to finish. If you saw my previous post for my April Wrap-up, I really pushed myself to finish books before attending the LA Times FOB and Y’all West and meeting the authors. I did finish some books, but started many, so I hope to finish them this month. Top books to finish for this month are Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor and I Darken by Kiersten White @authorkierstenwhite. (Both stories are fantastic so far and both authors are amazing humans! I highly recommend reading both of them!)

.

I also added to my TBR some ARCs that I received at Y’all West @yallwest. The first two I hope to finish are I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo @mauxbot (out May 30) and A Poison Dark and Drowning Book 2 in the Kingdom of Fire series (out September 19) by Jessica Clues @jesscluess. I can’t wait to read these! I met both authors at Y’all West and they were both so nice! Thank you to Fierce Reads @fiercereads and Random House Kids @randomhousekids for the copies!

.

And don’t despair! I will share my Current Reads tracker layout once I’ve set it up!

.

This fabulous wood bookmark is made by my girl Mary @markedbymary. Check out the lovely Andie’s @_halfbloodprincess profile for a rep code! (And really, you should be following both of these amazing humans!)

.

(And YES, I will also be reading ACOWAR. But my copy won’t be hear until Saturday! 😨)

.

For #grimdragon, May Day! TBR

Book Challenge: Well, that escalated quickly!

Hello! Hi! Hey! How are you all doing? I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but thank you for sticking with me! I’m still here and active on InstaStory. In fact, you can see more details about me trying to (unsuccessfully) organize my books and shelves. 😅 I’ve also put up stories about my current reads and reading wrap-ups for February and March. (Those are the stacks on the desk.).

If you’re new to my feed, welcome! I haven’t posted because I’ve been working on my WIP. I’m so close to the end! I keep saying that but I feel like the end is imminent.

.

How are you? What have you been up to? What are you reading?

.

Happy Monday!

.

For #grimdragons, Day 3: Well, that escalated quickly! Anyone else’s book shelves out of control? 😳

For #squeakybookishlibrary, Happy and Sad! Happy because books! Sad because I need more room!!

Book Challenge: November TBR

I can’t believe it’s November! Friends, what is happening?! There are only two months left for me to get through my 2016 TBR and I’ve barely made a dent! I have so many books I want to read and I’m running out of time! 😩.

For #lilbookishnovember Most Anticipated Read: I’d say Heartless is one of the most anticipated reads for me this year! I was able to get an ARC at Y’all West earlier this year. I can not wait until you all get to read this so we can discuss! I’m about a quarter of the way through and OMG it’s causing so much pain to the feels already. I loved the Lunar Chronicles, but it’s looking like Heartless might even be better!

.

For #nanopromptchallenge A reluctant hero: I’m not quite done with Crooked Kingdom, but it’s feeling like Kaz Brekker might fit into this category. I could be wrong, but his motivation for revenge and retribution is quite the moving force and is pushing the story toward an incredible climax. Perhaps hero may not be the most accurate way to describe Dirty Hands—definitely flawed and dark, but the fascinating aspect of Kaz’s character is his unrelenting determination to achieve his goals even though his success would mean the destruction of another character. I’m definitely rooting for him to succeed!

.

Here’s the rest of my November TBR. I’m finishing up buddy reads with Sandie @gameofpotterbooks for The Novice and Crooked Kingdom with Vicky @zoetzure. For November I will be buddy reading Orange with Natasha @shotmeinthebook and The Reader with Syd @deertales. I’m also working my way through the manga Ouran High Host Club. If you’re familiar with the anime, it surprisingly followed the manga closely.

.

Featured also is my #writersbulletjournal with my #currentreads layout for November in my Leuchtthrum 1917 @leuchtthurm1917. Reading at the Cafe candle was from a previous Owlcrate @owlcrate by Frostbeard Studio @frostbeardmpls. It actually smells like a bakery! ❤️

Book Challenge: September TBR

So, here’s my September TBR. A lot of these are actually from August. I’m finishing up my buddy reads for A Gathering of Shadows with a good friend Vicky, My Lady Jane with Kori @_livelaughread, and reading City of Lost Souls, The Winner’s Crime, The Orphan Queen, The Cursed Child (which I feel like might turn out to be a DNF😔) and The Girl in the Clockwork Collar are also reads from August that I’m nearly finished with too..

For September, I’m excited to buddy reading Six of Crows with Vicky and Aristotle and Dante with Korinna @yay.korinna. I’m also shooting to read Heartless and Gemina too. I’m also excited to read The Sidekicks, Tales of the Otari: Across the Nightingale Floor, and Torch (WHICH IS KILLING ME BTW).

.

Catching up on the September challenges:

#bookocandisrex TBR: Treat yourself to something after I finish this month’s TBR-I’m not sure yet what, but it will probably be stationery or book related. 😁

.

#septemberfantasychallenge Dream theme park: Cabeswater! *wink* *wink* 😄

August TBR

I think I did a better job this month picking out my books. I made sure not to go to the library before hand. (I still have some of my books from last month to finish!) Most of my books for August are for buddy reads which I’m very excited to do! •

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m #currently reading Hollow City, City of Fallen Angels, Shadows of Self, The Girl in the Steel Corset, and The Winner’s Kiss. I’m actually almost finished with Hollow City and The Girl in the Steel Corset. If you guys listen to audio books, I highly recommend the Miss Peregrine’s series. I like that they kept the same narrator for the first and second book. He’s very good and does the voices of all the children very well! The Girl in the Steel Corset by Kady Cross is part of the Steampunk Chronicles. I had bought the second book The Girl in the Clockwork Collar at Book-Off (used books), not realizing it was the second book! (I had my kids with me!) Anyway, I was so happy to find the first book at the library! The writing isn’t the greatest (there seems to be some typos in the copy), but the story is keeping me interested. Anyone else read this series?

I’m buddy reading Winter with my #booktwin Amy @ladyofthelibrary, A Gathering of Shadows with my good friend Vicky, Along for the Ride with @e_mellyberry, Flamecaster with Serena @girl_of_books_and_torchlight, and My Lady Jane with Kori @_livelaughread. Not all at once though! Hahaha.😂

And the only book on my August TBR that’s “new”—not a continuation from July or a buddy read—is Six of Crows. I KNOW. But listen, I just finished the Grisha trilogy and then July was crazy. So, I’m finally ready to read it! YAY. Can’t wait to see what you’re all reading this month!

For the #augustfantasychallenge day 1 prompt “Invent a flavor of Bertie Bott’s for your ENEMY! Ah! *rubs hands together* I would lead my enemy to a garden. Right before we got to the section that was just fertilized, I would “share” my Bertie Bott’s manure flavored jelly bean. That way the smell would be in their nose and in their mouth. 😇😁😂

Bullet Journal Challenge: Monthly Set-Up and Today

I hope everyone’s weekend is going well so far! I’m still sorting out my July TBR and it looks like Winter, The Winner’s Curse, and Shadows of Self have made the short list. Still deciding on the rest. •

I talked briefly about my current reads layout in my previous post for my #writersbulletjournal that helps me track which books I’m reading and my progress for the month. Another layout I keep is my monthly layout which is a modified tracker. In the overview, I tick off the tasks I complete each day. Then on the right, I make a note for that day of the specific task completed. I’ve been using this system for months now and so far I’ve learned I’m consistent with posting on IG and reading every day. 😁 I’m not so consistent with writing (I go in spurts) and reviewing (I’m SO behind). 😅 Now that my writing program is over, I plan to get back on track with writing everyday.

Today we stopped in at a couple used bookstores. Since I knew we were going, I checked my Nerd Gear Bujo to see which titles I listed on my Anticipated Buys list. I didn’t find any on my list (which is to be expected at used bookstores), but I did find a copy of Mrs. Dalloway which is the BOM for @notyourmommasbookclub. (Paid $4 and got a $10 credit for filling up my punch card! Score!). I also found Book 4 of Shannon Hale’s Bayern series, which I’m collecting. (I have a separate collection for series that I want to complete but not part of my immediate buys list.) Disappointed I didn’t find any books on my anticipated list, but happy that I got a store credit and I stayed within budget! Go me! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I was throwing around the idea of writing a detailed blog post that explains the different collections/layouts in my bullet journals. If you’re, interested, let me know in the comments any questions you might have.
