May Owlcrate Unboxing: Comic Explosion

Here’s my unboxing for the May Owlcrate @owlcrate “Comic Explosion”. I know I keep saying this, but I loved this box and Korrina is a mind-reader!.

I’m so excited for Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia @chessiezappia. When I got my Owlcrate, I was like, Why does this book sound familiar? I put it on my TBR when I first heard about earlier this year and forgot about it. 😅 Needless to say, I was thrilled to receive it last month. Even more so because it came with an amazing art print from the author!

.

We also received a full size Funko Pop (I got Loki!), coffee candy, a comic themed pen, a zipper pull, and a Wonder Woman candle! I’m not a candle person normally but I love this one!!

.

If you look through my other pictures, you’ll see close-ups of the bookish merchandise, a snap shot of the book summary, and a flip through of the sample of the graphic novel Afar. It looks amazing!

.

Has anyone read Eliza and Her Monsters? I can’t wait to read this! If you haven’t read it yet, comment or DM so we can buddy read it!

.

My kids have two days left of school! Sends prayers and/positive vibes my way because I’m barely hanging in there! I’m so ready for summer break! 😎🌞🏖

Owlcrate January Unboxing: Classic Remix

I’m finally getting to share the January Owlcrate @owlcrate box! Last month we received a lot of goodies (as always!) The theme was classic remix, so the goodies all related to a classic novel and being a former Lit. major in college, this was so much fun to receive!

.

There was a lovely mint and rose tea from First Edition Tea Co @firsteditiontea that was inspired by the Little Prince. To complement the mint scent, Tea Soap Books @teasoapbooks crafted a white tea and berries hand soap inspired by The Secret Garden. I love bookmarks and I’m so thrilled to have received a bookmark by Lexy Olivia @lexyolivia that was inspired by Slaughterhouse Five. I’ve seen her work all over my feed and was happy to finally get my hands on one of her bookmarks. We also received a Phantom of the Opera inspired fridge magnet from @sweetsequels.

.

My stationery-planner girl heart just about flipped when I saw this wall calendar inspired by children’s classics from Obvious State @obviousstate. I kid you not friends, I was despairing over finding a wall calendar that was both simple and functional. This was perfect and the illustrations of various children’s books characters was absolutely perfect.

.

The book for the month of January was Roseblood by AG Howard. I haven’t read any of her other books, so I’m really excited to read this one. It’s a modern day retelling of The Phantom of the Opera!

.

Did you guys hear that Owlcrate has a photo challenge #classicowl for the January box? The pictures are amazing. Also, there’s going to be an #owlcrateathon from February 11-25. There will be three mini-challenges to help knock down your Owlcrate TBR. I’m actually buddy reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake with Sierra @lookingthroughthepages which was in the September box! I’m so excited for these challenges. Check out their profile for more details! February’s theme is “Run away with the circus” and I can not wait!

.

My husband was able to swap out my old phone battery for a new one (a delicate procedure that he handled like no big deal). Can I get a 🙌🏽 for awesome husbands? How’s your Thursday going?

.

Owlcrate Preview!

I spent the morning taking pictures of all the goodies I got (see previous happy mail post). I can’t wait to share them with you! .

In the meantime, here’s a shot I took of all the preview cards from previous Owlcrate @owlcrate boxes with the book of that month. I took this in anticipation of January’s Classic Remix box. I’ve shared what the book was in my previous post about my January haul, but I’m excited to share the goodies that came with it too! Which books have you read here? I’ve read two (which were fantastic!) and I’m going to buddy read another this month.

.

How’s your Monday going? It feels good to get back into bookstagramming. I put up some BTS stories on my InstaStory, if you’d care to see. Getting back into shooting for BG feels like a habit I’ve got to relearn after being off for two weeks! I try to take blocks of pictures at one time. I just have to find the time! Do you guys shoot everyday? Or do you take a block of pictures at once?

Happy Mail!

Even though January was a tough month for me and my family (see previous posts), receiving happy mail helped to make it better. I have so much to share with you all! The January boxes for @owlcrate and @nerdy.post were AMAZING. Owlcrate’s theme for January was Classic Remix and Nerdy Post’s theme was Star Wars. I loved both of these boxes! I also received some cute planner stickers from @paperkumaco. Then my prizes for the 1 year anniversary giveaway for @riddlesteashoppe arrived too! Between caring for a sick family and all the rainy weather, this load of happy mail was wonderful. .

I’ve got it down in my bullet journal to take pictures of all the goodies. I’m at an age where if I don’t write it down, it won’t get done! I can’t wait to share everything with you all!

.

This is a spoiler free post, but if you subscribe to either of these services, did you get yours yet? What did you think? Who else has to write everything down so they don’t forget to do all the things?

December Owlcrate Unboxing: Epic Theme

I’m so excited to share with you the December @owlcrate box. The theme was EPIC and it really lived up to the theme! .

I love fantasy and this box was perfect. Included was a Narnia illustrated inspired greeting card by @susanne_draws. We also received a coaster set from Dark House inspired by Game of Thrones. We also received a surprise mini-funko pop. Mine turned out to be Fawkes! It’s so perfect because this year is my year to rise from the ashes (of my WIP😅). We also received an Owlcrate collectible button inspired by the January Owlcrate postcard and this Lord of the Rings inspired enamel pin by Jane Mount @jane_mount. My favorite item is the sticker designed by @missphi inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic. Lila is one of my favorite heroines and this is one of my favorite quotes of hers: “I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still.” I’m so excited for A Conjuring of Light!

.

The book for this month is Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst @brashbook. I’m so excited for this book! I love fantasy and I love strong female heroines and this book sounds perfect. I’ll leave the summary from Goodreads below in the comments. The theme for January is Classic Remix! There will be tea and a YA retelling of a classic story! I can’t wait! Make sure to check out my girls Kori @_livelaughread and Kels @acciobooksncoffee for 10% off your first Owlcrate!

.

How’s your Wednesday? I got a bunch of chores done, but now I’m so tired! I feel like I could sleep through dinner which is not good because I have to make it! 😆

Goodreads summary:

Betrothed since childhood to the prince of Mynaria, Princess Dennaleia has always known what her future holds. Her marriage will seal the alliance between Mynaria and her homeland, protecting her people from other hostile lands. But Denna has a secret. She possesses an Affinity for fire—a dangerous gift for the future queen of a kingdom where magic is forbidden.
Now, Denna must learn the ways of her new home while trying to hide her growing magic. To make matters worse, she must learn to ride Mynaria’s formidable warhorses—and her teacher is the person who intimidates her most, the prickly and unconventional Princess Amaranthine—called Mare—the sister of her betrothed.
When a shocking assassination leaves the kingdom reeling, Mare and Denna reluctantly join forces to search for the culprit. As the two become closer, Mare is surprised by Denna’s intelligence and bravery, while Denna is drawn to Mare’s independent streak. And soon their friendship is threatening to blossom into something more.
But with dangerous conflict brewing that makes the alliance more important than ever, acting on their feelings could be deadly. Forced to choose between their duty and their hearts, Mare and Denna must find a way to save their kingdoms—and each other.
