Book Challenge: Bookstagram made me do it!

Happy Friday! I can not believe it’s Friday and it’s summer vacation! First day on vacation, we went to the library and went to the park. We’re off to a great start. I just hope I can keep up the momentum! 😁.

So confession: Before bookstagram, I had never heard of Funko Pops! I knowww. I don’t really have an excuse, if you count living in a cave. 😅 And I admit, I was resistant to getting them, rationalizing that I didn’t really need them and I didn’t have room. 😂 But then I got my first Funko from @owlcrate and it was Snape and eventually I also received Luna Lovegood too! I loved them! Then I won more in Juli’s Anniversary @riddlesteashoppe giveaway last year. One of them was Hermione (and she sent tea too!). And pretty much from there, I started collecting them but I’ve noticed the few that I have collected are becoming part of a really awesome girl squad. Hmm. Perhaps I should do a squad post? 🤔

Pictured are the House inspired Ravenclaw Wisdom and Gryffindor Bravery teas from @riddlesteashoppe which I highly recommend! Check out Rebecca @bibliosophy_ rep for her discount rep code! Thank you Juli for the Funkos and teas!

I hope you’re having a great Friday! What was something bookstagram made you do?

Book Challenge: Fantastic Beasts

Hey! How are you all doing? It’s been so crazy! Spent time recovering from the book festivals I attended, battled with allergies (I lost), and I’ve been trying to catch up with reading and writing too! I’m finally watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! I’m enjoying it so much. (NOTE: I loved it!) I admit, I bought these Funkos before I saw the movie and now I need Tina, Newt, and Jacob! Do you all have some fun plans this weekend? I’m looking forward to Mother’s Day. I’ve got part of the morning and afternoon to myself and I’m so excited!.
For #squeakybookishlibrary You’re over me? I like Newt a lot, but I will never be over Harry Potter. 😭

.
For #grimdragon Why is this a thing? Maps and Funkos? I was chatting about maps with Cici @rusticwindow and how before bookstagram, we never really thought about maps. Now, it’s like maps all day, erreday. And then Funkos! I never even heard of Funkos until bookstagram! And then I got my first Funko in an Owlcrate—Snape. I still don’t have that many, but my collection is growing!

What did you guys think of Fantastic Beasts? What things do you want all of?

Book Challenge: Favorite Fictional World

For #watermelanerdsjanuary Favorite Fictional World–I love fantasy, but lately I’ve been partial to stories that blend a little bit of magic or the supernatural into real life which gives the setting a touch of wonder in the possibility of what if. Some of my favorite fictional worlds that do that are Harry Potter (of course), works by Maggie Stiefvater like The Raven Cycle and one of my all-time favorites The Scorpio Races. I also enjoy Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and Susan Ee’s Angel Falls series. Both are urban settings with angels. I can’t also forget Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter series! My favorite of the series is the Infernal Devices—Shadowhunters in Victorian London! Another favorite fictional world is from my current read by Rae Carson Walk on Earth a Stranger—1849 America when gold was what everyone wanted and the main character Lee has an ability to sense gold. .

This is also for #livelaughbooksjanuary Happy Birthday, Severus Snape! and #bibliophile2017 Favorite Professor/Teacher, Happy Birthday, Severus Snape! Ahhh! It’s so hard to pick a favorite professor/teacher! I love Professor McGonagall, but I’m currently reading Tales from the Shadow Hunter Academy and I’m really liking Catarina Loss, the warlock teacher.

.

This post is late, but it’s never too late for Harry Potter! 😁 It rained today and it’s supposed to rain for the better part of this week. I’m really loving this kind of weather, but it pretty much means taking pictures are few and far between!

Hogwarts is my home is from the September @owlcrate and my one-of-a-kind handmade wand was a gift from my friend Maeva @readinginhongkong.

Book Challenge: Unsung Heros

For #livelaughbemerryandbright Unsung Heroes: When I saw this prompt, I instantly thought of Dean and Sam Winchester. I know they’re not technically book related, but seriously, they fit the prompt so perfectly. If you haven’t watched Supernatural, you should totally give it a chance! I actually started rewatching the show. I had stopped watching after season 4 and now I’m up to season 6! Featured is my Sam and Dean sticker from the September Supernatural @nerdy.post.

.

And to #staybookish, Harry Potter has a lot of unsung heroes! Luna Lovegood, Snape, and Cedric Diggory are some of my favorites. In a way, I think Newt Scamander is an unsung hero too!

For #watermelanerdsdecember Cozy reads, ALL the Harry Potters!

For #squeakybookishlibrary, Books set during winter, okay, so this is a stretch, but whenever I think of books set in winter, I always think of the Great Hall and the feasts they have at Christmas time and also Christmas at the Burrow.

.

I’m SO glad it’s Friday! We finally decorated the tree! 😬 Our youngest is a few weeks shy of being 3 years old, so they were all able to “help”. I may have had to make adjustments to how they put on the ornaments (little kids like to put 23452 ornaments on one branch), but I love how it looks! The rest of the weekend will be decorating some more, wrapping gifts, and maybe some baking.

.

What are you all up to? Something fun I hope!

Book Challenge: A Very Harry (Potter) Christmas!

For #winterwonderlandbooks16 A Very Harry (Potter) Christmas! So technically this isn’t the Great Hall at Christmas (It was the great feast in The Sorcerer’s Stone when Gryffindor won the House Cup), but I think this illustration captures the feeling and spirit of the holidays so well—friends, fun, and light..

For #squeakybookishlibrary Books and Christmas Treats and #grimdragon Books and Junk Food, if you saw in my InstaStory, these are Trader Joe’s Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s. If you don’t have Trader Joe’s near you, I’m sorry. I really am. Once a year, Trader Joe’s puts out these cookies. They’re like that other type of cookie with a cream filling except Joe Joe’s have bits of candy cane in the cream filling. 😱 Friends, I don’t even like candy canes and cookies with cream filling, but I will have some Joe Joe’s.

.

For #lilbookishdecember Baby, it’s cold outside! Sweaters, warm drinks, comfy & cozy. Perfect accompaniment to Joe Joe’s is a cup of Earl Grey. ☕️

.

I hope you’re all having a great weekend so far! I stayed home with my daughter who is sick (fever has come down, but it’s still low grade) and my older kids went to their aunts’ house for a gingerbread/cookie party. My daughter was so sad about not going, but we had a girls’ night and watched Cinderella (her first time!) 💙 Tomorrow we’re finally going to decorate our tree. 🎄🎅🏽

.

Book Challenge: Happy Birthday, Hagrid!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HAGRID! If I were at Hogwarts, I’d stop by his place and drop off a little cake—in a non-stalkerish way of course. That’s not creepy, right? Anyone else think if Hagrid met Newt Scamander they would be insta-BFFs? Like what would Newt think of Aragog? Can you imagine Hagrid and Newt cooing over Norbert? I think it would be so cool if Newt got ride Buckbeak too! .

#livelaughbemerryandbright and #winterwonderlandbooks16 Happy Birthday, Hagrid!

.

For #watermelanerdsdecember, Felix Felicis or Polyjuice Potion? Felix Felicis for sure! I could always use some luck! I’d buy a lottery ticket after I took it. 😏

.

How are you all doing today? Last week at Costco, I was able to snag a copy of the Fantastic Beasts screenplay and a few other movie-tie in books. I’ll try to post it on my InstaStory later this week. They are gorgeous. Featured here is a map from the Newt Scamander Movie Scrapbook. Featured also is my handmade Sherlock wand by my dear friend Maeva @readinginhongkong.

Book Challenge: Fantastic Beasts Release Day

I’m so excited for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! The trailer looks amazing. I’m hoping to see the movie some time next week. This book featured here is JK Rowling’s Wizarding World Movie Magic Volume 1. It’s incredible, friends! The pictures from the movies are so detailed and the ephemera is spectacular. Included were the newspaper clipping and these postcards inspired by the movie Fantastic Beasts. I haven’t had a chance to go through the rest of the book, but there’s more from the HP movies too! (I bought this at Costco for only $17.99!) My wands are handmade by my dear friend Maeva @readinginhongkong..

For #livelaughbooksnovember Favorite Ficitional Beast, I’ve said this before, but I love the sea horses from The Scorpio Races! I’m also partial to Tyson, the cyclops, from Percy Jackson and also the hypogriff from Harry Potter.

.

#watermelanerdsnovember Fantastic Beast Release Day!

#disneypotterchallenge Happy Fantastic Beast Release Day!

I know everyone is going to see the movie! But do you guys have other plans this weekend? I’ve been off Instagram because I wasn’t feeling well and then when I tried to post, Instagram wouldn’t let me! 😠 I’m feeling better and I’m hoping to post regularly and of course, I’ll have some late posts as I try to catch up too! 🙈 Hope you guys have a great weekend!
