Book Challenge: A Book 50 Years Older Than You

It’s Thursday. We made it to our spring break! 😄 Tomorrow is the first day of vacation. One of the first things we do is head to the library to stock up on books during the break. What are some things you do to get your vacation started?.
For #grimdragon A book that’s at least 50 years older than you: The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I’m still reading through the stories but I’m enjoying them so far.

.
For #watermelanerdsapril The Dregs: Okay. I slipped in the crow because it went well with my Sherlock Holmes edition but it’s really a nod to one of my favorite band of criminals whom I think Sherlock Holmes would have probably found fascinating.

.
For #thehamiltonedition “I am inimitable. I am an original.”-Most Unique Character: Sherlock Holmes! Most famous detective ever!

For #squeakybookishlibrary Sun and Moon: Mrs. Hudson is the moon–calm and steady what Sherlock needs a lot. Irene Adler is the sun–fiery and burns which we know Sherlock has experienced with her!

.

The Sherlock skull bookmark with Mrs. Hudson’s quote “A nice murder. That’ll cheer you up” is from the Sherlock @nerdy.post.

Book Challenge: Tea and Book Boyfriends

I hope you all had a great Monday! Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. No more migraines today, but I still took it easy. We’re all every excited because this is the last week of school until our spring break—just three more days! (They get Friday off!).
For #squeakybookishlibrary Alive and Dead—If it hadn’t been for Aunjuli’s tea, I wouldn’t have made it through my morning! 😅

.
For #watermelanerdsapril Appreciate: Coffee/Tea—Tea! If you saw my Story, I rushed to take pictures today because the light was so good. But I forgot to eat breakfast! But I made tea though. Today’s choice was from @riddlesteashoppe The Dark Prophecies Draft tea. This is a blend of almond, tiger eye, oriental spice with white peppercorn. Perfect for a Monday morning when you need to get your morning going. I love Aunjuli’s tea and if tea is your jam, I highly recommend checking out her shop. Visit my girl Natasha @shotmeinthebook for a discount code!

.
For #thehamiltonedition “You walked in and my heart went BOOM” Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends—Pictured here is one of my #currentreads A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi. I loved The Star-Touched Queen and A Crown of Wishes was one of my most anticipated reads this year. I’m still reading it, but I’m enjoying it so much. Gauri and Vikram are becoming my OTP. Vikram is totally book boyfriend worthy and if I’m honest, I’m crushing on how awesome Gauri is too.😍

.

Wooden “Book Hoarder” bookmark is also from @riddleteashoppe! Mom Fuel mug is made by Thimblepress from Target.

Book Challenge: Book that got you through a tough time

Is the weekend really over? Sad face! I’ve been been pretty much battling migraines all weekend and now that they seem to be going away, the weekend is over. At least my Monday won’t be too bad. Yay? .
For #grimdragon I needed this book! A book that got you through a tough time: If you’re new to my profile, I’m a big Jane Austen fan! Pride and Prejudice came at a time in my life when I needed it most. It was my first year teaching and I wasn’t sure if I was cut out for teaching. My father also passed away that year too. It was a year plagued with doubt and loss and Pride and Prejudice helped me get through it all. I actually saw parts of the BBC Miniseries (Colin Firth will always be Mr. Darcy to me!) on TV and decided that I wanted to read it first before I saw anymore of it. I loved it! Jane Austen also inspired me to be a writer too.

.
For #squeakybookishlibrary Good and Evil: Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham!

.
For #thehamiltonedition “It’s hard to have intercourse over four sets of corsets.” Hot and steamy scenes: Okay. Corsets were used in Regency England which is when Pride and Prejudice was set! But, as for hot and steamy, well, I thought the Netherfield ball when Darcy and Elizabeth dance together and verbally spar was steamy…for the Regency era. Oh! And Lydia and Wickham! They were totally hot and steamy! (But it was like implied.)

.

This gorgeous Darcy and Elizabeth print was from the Classics themed @nerdy.post.

Book Challenge: The Night Court

It’s finally Friday and I’m SO ready for the weekend! I hope you all have awesome plans so I can live vicariously through you! Me? Chores. 😑So yeah, please have all the fun!!.

For #thehamiltonedition Underrated Character: So if you haven’t seen on my Story, I finished ACOMAF the other night and HOW ARE YOU ALL STILL ALIVE AFTER A YEAR? 😭 But Nesta though!! Totally underrated and I am eager to see what will happen to Nesta in ACOWAR.

.
For #squeakybookishlibrary Love and Hate: Aside from obvious reasons, I both loved this book because it justified my crush on Rhysand from ACOTAR, but hated how it pretty much left me like 😨😨😨. THAT ENDING. WHY THO.

.
For #watermelanerdsapril Night Court: I just realized something, AVERT YOUR EYES BECAUSE SPOILERS. Does anyone know what Feyre’s new tattoo looks like? You know the one.😳

.
This gorgeous print is by the lovely Brittney @herbookishthings. Link to her Etsy shop is in her bio! Check out my girl Hailee @haibooklovers for a discount code for Brittney’s shop!

Owlcrate January Unboxing: Classic Remix

I’m finally getting to share the January Owlcrate @owlcrate box! Last month we received a lot of goodies (as always!) The theme was classic remix, so the goodies all related to a classic novel and being a former Lit. major in college, this was so much fun to receive!

.

There was a lovely mint and rose tea from First Edition Tea Co @firsteditiontea that was inspired by the Little Prince. To complement the mint scent, Tea Soap Books @teasoapbooks crafted a white tea and berries hand soap inspired by The Secret Garden. I love bookmarks and I’m so thrilled to have received a bookmark by Lexy Olivia @lexyolivia that was inspired by Slaughterhouse Five. I’ve seen her work all over my feed and was happy to finally get my hands on one of her bookmarks. We also received a Phantom of the Opera inspired fridge magnet from @sweetsequels.

.

My stationery-planner girl heart just about flipped when I saw this wall calendar inspired by children’s classics from Obvious State @obviousstate. I kid you not friends, I was despairing over finding a wall calendar that was both simple and functional. This was perfect and the illustrations of various children’s books characters was absolutely perfect.

.

The book for the month of January was Roseblood by AG Howard. I haven’t read any of her other books, so I’m really excited to read this one. It’s a modern day retelling of The Phantom of the Opera!

.

Did you guys hear that Owlcrate has a photo challenge #classicowl for the January box? The pictures are amazing. Also, there’s going to be an #owlcrateathon from February 11-25. There will be three mini-challenges to help knock down your Owlcrate TBR. I’m actually buddy reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake with Sierra @lookingthroughthepages which was in the September box! I’m so excited for these challenges. Check out their profile for more details! February’s theme is “Run away with the circus” and I can not wait!

.

My husband was able to swap out my old phone battery for a new one (a delicate procedure that he handled like no big deal). Can I get a 🙌🏽 for awesome husbands? How’s your Thursday going?

.

Book Challenge: I love…

For #bibliophilelove2017 I love…the bookstagram community! I’m so grateful to have found this place and also for the friends I have made here. I’m so glad to have an outlet to share my love for books and also share it with other people who completely understand! (You all know who you are!!) 😊.

For #squeakybookishlibrary 🦄—Unicorns remind me of my #booktwin Amy @ladyofthelibrary. Not just because it’s one of her favorite animals, but she’s got a beautiful soul and brings joy and light into your life. This Snape-Always key chain, made by @whenmelissareads, was given to me as a Friendaversary gift. It’s been one year since me and Amy became friends through bookstagram and I will always be grateful she found me! She’s been a constant source of support and positivity from BG prop advice to talking about what kind of shenanigans our kids are up to, she’s put up with my messaging and texting with patience and kindness. If you haven’t met Amy yet, make sure to stop by her account.

.

Who’s a friend that after all this time, you’ll always be grateful for? Comment below to spread the love!

.

I’m a day late for these prompts. I didn’t post last night because I was helping my husband pack. He’s going away to attend the Super Bowl with a friend which means me, alone with our four kids. 😳 But my umbrella lights came in and FRIENDS it has changed my life! Check out my InstaStory to see them! Happy Friday!

.

Owlcrate Preview!

I spent the morning taking pictures of all the goodies I got (see previous happy mail post). I can’t wait to share them with you! .

In the meantime, here’s a shot I took of all the preview cards from previous Owlcrate @owlcrate boxes with the book of that month. I took this in anticipation of January’s Classic Remix box. I’ve shared what the book was in my previous post about my January haul, but I’m excited to share the goodies that came with it too! Which books have you read here? I’ve read two (which were fantastic!) and I’m going to buddy read another this month.

.

How’s your Monday going? It feels good to get back into bookstagramming. I put up some BTS stories on my InstaStory, if you’d care to see. Getting back into shooting for BG feels like a habit I’ve got to relearn after being off for two weeks! I try to take blocks of pictures at one time. I just have to find the time! Do you guys shoot everyday? Or do you take a block of pictures at once?
