Owlcrate January Unboxing: Classic Remix

I’m finally getting to share the January Owlcrate @owlcrate box! Last month we received a lot of goodies (as always!) The theme was classic remix, so the goodies all related to a classic novel and being a former Lit. major in college, this was so much fun to receive!

.

There was a lovely mint and rose tea from First Edition Tea Co @firsteditiontea that was inspired by the Little Prince. To complement the mint scent, Tea Soap Books @teasoapbooks crafted a white tea and berries hand soap inspired by The Secret Garden. I love bookmarks and I’m so thrilled to have received a bookmark by Lexy Olivia @lexyolivia that was inspired by Slaughterhouse Five. I’ve seen her work all over my feed and was happy to finally get my hands on one of her bookmarks. We also received a Phantom of the Opera inspired fridge magnet from @sweetsequels.

.

My stationery-planner girl heart just about flipped when I saw this wall calendar inspired by children’s classics from Obvious State @obviousstate. I kid you not friends, I was despairing over finding a wall calendar that was both simple and functional. This was perfect and the illustrations of various children’s books characters was absolutely perfect.

.

The book for the month of January was Roseblood by AG Howard. I haven’t read any of her other books, so I’m really excited to read this one. It’s a modern day retelling of The Phantom of the Opera!

.

Did you guys hear that Owlcrate has a photo challenge #classicowl for the January box? The pictures are amazing. Also, there’s going to be an #owlcrateathon from February 11-25. There will be three mini-challenges to help knock down your Owlcrate TBR. I’m actually buddy reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake with Sierra @lookingthroughthepages which was in the September box! I’m so excited for these challenges. Check out their profile for more details! February’s theme is “Run away with the circus” and I can not wait!

.

My husband was able to swap out my old phone battery for a new one (a delicate procedure that he handled like no big deal). Can I get a 🙌🏽 for awesome husbands? How’s your Thursday going?

.

Book Challenge: I love…

For #bibliophilelove2017 I love…the bookstagram community! I’m so grateful to have found this place and also for the friends I have made here. I’m so glad to have an outlet to share my love for books and also share it with other people who completely understand! (You all know who you are!!) 😊.

For #squeakybookishlibrary 🦄—Unicorns remind me of my #booktwin Amy @ladyofthelibrary. Not just because it’s one of her favorite animals, but she’s got a beautiful soul and brings joy and light into your life. This Snape-Always key chain, made by @whenmelissareads, was given to me as a Friendaversary gift. It’s been one year since me and Amy became friends through bookstagram and I will always be grateful she found me! She’s been a constant source of support and positivity from BG prop advice to talking about what kind of shenanigans our kids are up to, she’s put up with my messaging and texting with patience and kindness. If you haven’t met Amy yet, make sure to stop by her account.

.

Who’s a friend that after all this time, you’ll always be grateful for? Comment below to spread the love!

.

I’m a day late for these prompts. I didn’t post last night because I was helping my husband pack. He’s going away to attend the Super Bowl with a friend which means me, alone with our four kids. 😳 But my umbrella lights came in and FRIENDS it has changed my life! Check out my InstaStory to see them! Happy Friday!

.

Owlcrate Preview!

I spent the morning taking pictures of all the goodies I got (see previous happy mail post). I can’t wait to share them with you! .

In the meantime, here’s a shot I took of all the preview cards from previous Owlcrate @owlcrate boxes with the book of that month. I took this in anticipation of January’s Classic Remix box. I’ve shared what the book was in my previous post about my January haul, but I’m excited to share the goodies that came with it too! Which books have you read here? I’ve read two (which were fantastic!) and I’m going to buddy read another this month.

.

How’s your Monday going? It feels good to get back into bookstagramming. I put up some BTS stories on my InstaStory, if you’d care to see. Getting back into shooting for BG feels like a habit I’ve got to relearn after being off for two weeks! I try to take blocks of pictures at one time. I just have to find the time! Do you guys shoot everyday? Or do you take a block of pictures at once?

Happy Mail!

Even though January was a tough month for me and my family (see previous posts), receiving happy mail helped to make it better. I have so much to share with you all! The January boxes for @owlcrate and @nerdy.post were AMAZING. Owlcrate’s theme for January was Classic Remix and Nerdy Post’s theme was Star Wars. I loved both of these boxes! I also received some cute planner stickers from @paperkumaco. Then my prizes for the 1 year anniversary giveaway for @riddlesteashoppe arrived too! Between caring for a sick family and all the rainy weather, this load of happy mail was wonderful. .

I’ve got it down in my bullet journal to take pictures of all the goodies. I’m at an age where if I don’t write it down, it won’t get done! I can’t wait to share everything with you all!

.

This is a spoiler free post, but if you subscribe to either of these services, did you get yours yet? What did you think? Who else has to write everything down so they don’t forget to do all the things?

December Owlcrate Unboxing: Epic Theme

I’m so excited to share with you the December @owlcrate box. The theme was EPIC and it really lived up to the theme! .

I love fantasy and this box was perfect. Included was a Narnia illustrated inspired greeting card by @susanne_draws. We also received a coaster set from Dark House inspired by Game of Thrones. We also received a surprise mini-funko pop. Mine turned out to be Fawkes! It’s so perfect because this year is my year to rise from the ashes (of my WIP😅). We also received an Owlcrate collectible button inspired by the January Owlcrate postcard and this Lord of the Rings inspired enamel pin by Jane Mount @jane_mount. My favorite item is the sticker designed by @missphi inspired by A Darker Shade of Magic. Lila is one of my favorite heroines and this is one of my favorite quotes of hers: “I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still.” I’m so excited for A Conjuring of Light!

.

The book for this month is Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst @brashbook. I’m so excited for this book! I love fantasy and I love strong female heroines and this book sounds perfect. I’ll leave the summary from Goodreads below in the comments. The theme for January is Classic Remix! There will be tea and a YA retelling of a classic story! I can’t wait! Make sure to check out my girls Kori @_livelaughread and Kels @acciobooksncoffee for 10% off your first Owlcrate!

.

How’s your Wednesday? I got a bunch of chores done, but now I’m so tired! I feel like I could sleep through dinner which is not good because I have to make it! 😆

.

Goodreads summary:

Betrothed since childhood to the prince of Mynaria, Princess Dennaleia has always known what her future holds. Her marriage will seal the alliance between Mynaria and her homeland, protecting her people from other hostile lands. But Denna has a secret. She possesses an Affinity for fire—a dangerous gift for the future queen of a kingdom where magic is forbidden.
Now, Denna must learn the ways of her new home while trying to hide her growing magic. To make matters worse, she must learn to ride Mynaria’s formidable warhorses—and her teacher is the person who intimidates her most, the prickly and unconventional Princess Amaranthine—called Mare—the sister of her betrothed.
When a shocking assassination leaves the kingdom reeling, Mare and Denna reluctantly join forces to search for the culprit. As the two become closer, Mare is surprised by Denna’s intelligence and bravery, while Denna is drawn to Mare’s independent streak. And soon their friendship is threatening to blossom into something more.
But with dangerous conflict brewing that makes the alliance more important than ever, acting on their feelings could be deadly. Forced to choose between their duty and their hearts, Mare and Denna must find a way to save their kingdoms—and each other.

December @nerdy.post subscription: Fantastic Beasts

So, I was unable to catch Fantastic Beasts in the theater, BUT I was thrilled to receive the December Fantastic Beasts @nerdy.post! I don’t know how Alexis does it, but each post has been amazing and this one is no different! For a lettering enthusiast, @nerdy.post is such a perfect monthly subscription. Fandom + gorgeous lettering = BIG HEART EYES each month! .

Each post includes a poster with a gorgeous lettered quote and this particular poster is breathtaking! I love this quote from the movie, but the illustrations of the eagle creatures are incredible! I also love that Alexis sometimes includes a little notebook in some of the posts and this one is inspired by Newt’s case. There’s so much detail in this notebook. The outside looks like Newt’s case and on the inside back cover are Newt’s scribbles for the titles of his book.

.

Also included are two mini-prints of a quote (which I will put up on my inspiration board) and giggle water! I’m not sure what giggle water is, but it sounds fun! I also received this cute sticker of one of the creatures, but I’m not sure which one it is! 🙈 The button is another one of Alexis’s designs that you can wear to show your status as a Magizoologist. My favorite part of each post is the bookmark! My IIvermorny house is Thunderbird and as part of this post, if you replied in time, Alexis made sure you got your IIvermorny house bookmark! She’s amazing. On the back of the bookmark are the traits of Thunderbird: adventure and soul. I’ll post another close-up shot of these goodies later this week so you can see the amazing details.

.

I’m so excited for the January @nerdy.post. The theme is STAR WARS. I did get to see Rogue One and if I’m honest, I’m still trying to learn how to life after Rogue One. I can’t wait to see what Alexis has in store for us! Make sure to check out my girls Kori @_livelaughread and Allison @littlebookwormig for 10% off your first post!

.

First day back after break–it’s raining and I’m having a hard time staying awake. How’s your Monday so far?

Tag: Five facts about me

In case you didn’t know, I’m a big stationery addict! Maybe it’s because I’m a writer, I think I’m just wired to go mad for all things paper and pens. 😍 😆Notebooks filled with grid lines? YESSS. Sheets of creamy paper for letter writing? YESSS. Pens! 😍 Don’t get me started on pens! .

Then you have the stationery that is so gorgeous that it’s almost too pretty to use! Nandini from @inkindia has such gorgeous stationery! Featured here are some cards, a notepad, and a gift card holder from @inkindia. The butterfly on my book is actually a gift tag. My background is also tissue-like paper from Nandini’s store. I love how everything is handmade. I highly recommend checking out Nandini’s profile for more of her stationery.

.

Thank you Nandini for the gifts!

.

This is also the perfect time to take care of this tag #5factsaboutme from the lovely Celeste @prettygeekery. If you don’t know Celeste, definitely check out her profile. She’s so creative!
