Reread of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling

When you reread a book, do your feelings change toward it?

This week my kids and I finally started listening/reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. (We listen to books on the way to school and home). It has been years since I’ve read the series but I enjoyed it and was looking forward to reading it with my kids someday. Someday arrived and it’s been such a fantastic experience so far. We’re only at the beginning but even though I know what happens, it’s like reading it for the first time because my kids are so enthralled with Harry’s world and enjoy discovering new things like he does. I also highly recommend the audiobook which is narrated by Jim Dale. He does a fantastic Hagrid!

If you’re curious as to where we are in the story (SPOILERS), Hagrid has taken Harry to the Leaky Cauldron for the first time and everyone is like 🤩 towards Harry.

Would you guys be interested in reviews for audiobooks for picture books, middle grade, and young adult books? Or is there anything you’d like to know about audiobooks?

Happy Friday, friends! I hope you’ve had a great week and have fantastic plans for the weekend. We have a three day weekend. Monday is a holiday in observance of Lincoln’s birthday. I’m SO glad! This has been a rough week and I need the rest!

The Golden Trio print was from the August 2017 @owlcrate.

I love this series of books. After the movies came out, I was mire likely to research those rather than reread or reliaten, but recently I both reread and relistened to The Sorcerer’s Stone and I, like you, fell in love with the story all over again. You are so right about Jim Dale! I’ve listened to the whole series and his voice impersonations of ALL the characters is magnificent. I would buy the books as they were released in both book and audio form so that I (and by extension my son, too, who would be in the car with me all the time) could listen to them as we drove around. This is one series of books I revisit all the time and absolutely adore.

My middle school kids still ask if we can read five to ten minutes of Harry Potter at the end of the lesson if they’re good. It’s a treat for all of us. I fall more and more in love each time we open the novels and love that there are films for students who have trouble making a mental picture, so they can understand and visualize scenes, there are screenplays to compare with the books and there is the comfort of stories we adore. The first time I read anything is for enjoyment and story, the next times are all about structure. I went through a phase a while ago where I read the books in reverse order, starting with the final one back down to the first.
