A day late with these challenges but better late than never right? Spring break is in full swing for us. So far it’s been spent reading and playing. I hope you’re all having a great weekend so far!.
For #grimdragon Hop in the way-back machine! Early reading memories: Featured here are two artifacts from my childhood! We didn’t have a lot books growing up, so these copies of Where the Sidewalk Ends and Madeline are special to me. In third grade, my teacher gifted each child with a book. Girls got Madeline and boys got Curious George. For a child who loved reading, but didn’t have easy access to books, I thought it was the greatest gift ever. In fifth grade, my teacher had other students read poems from Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends. I listened to Sarah Sylvia Stout, Hungry Mungry, and Sick with big heart eyes and begged my mom to get this book of awesome. She did and I haven’t been parted with it ever since! Included here are some of my kids’ favorites that I hope they will remember fondly when they’re older.
For #watermelanerdsapril Witty Banter (Moment of Laughter Day): Shel Silverstein, Sandra Boynton, Mo Wilems, and Rick Riordan are so witty and funny!
For #squeakybookishlibrary Bless and Curse: Growing up, loving to read was tough not having access to books. I think it’s part of the reason why I hoard books so much! (Okay, so it’s also a book nerd thing too.) But I’m so grateful that I have access now and can make sure my kids do too!
For #thehamiltonedition I’m a general…wheeee! I think this prompt might be about having fun? Kids books are always fun! 😃
