Book Challenge: Favorite Bookish Friendship

I don’t normally pick up YA Contemporaries, but The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner @jeffzentner came in the January Owlcrate @owlcrate and I’m SO glad that it did! I didn’t know what to expect, but it was such a pleasant surprise. This has easily become one of my favorite reads of 2016..

I picked this for #livelaughbooksaugust Favorite Fictional Friendship (National Friendship Day) and #augustofpages Favorite bookish friendship because the friendship portrayed in this story is so genuine and heartwarming and heartbreaking at times! So much ugly crying near the end of this book! But it was so worth it! Dill, Lydia, and Travis were characterized so well and their struggles in just getting through their senior year of high school was amusing and raw at times. I don’t want to say too much because of spoilers, but if you enjoy stories about friendship and persevering through hard times, I highly recommend reading this book!
