Book challenge: Uprooted by Naomi Novik

This was one of my favorite books of 2016. Inspired by a Polish fairytale, this story has incredible world building and fantastic characters. Neiska is brave and loyal and refuses to be intimidated by the Dragon, the powerful wizard who watches over the region and protects it from the Wood. The story was well-paced and the conflict was compelling. I really liked the magic system too.
I also enjoyed how Nieska’s character undergoes a gradual change. She’s chosen by the Dragon because of her magical potential. I loved how we see her abilities take time to develop and eventually she grows into her powers, embracing her abilities. My full review is on Goodreads!
This is also for Mäeva’s @readinginhongkong #bookishmarch16 “Best of 2015” and my book challenge #jennsbookishchallenge Week 4 theme “Rebirth/Renew”.
