Wrapping up the Week 1 theme “Traditions” of my book challenge #jennsbookishchallenge with Renee Adieh’s @reneeahdieh The Wrath and the Dawn. You guys! This book! I can’t with words. This was one of my favorite books of 2015. I love Renee’s style–sumptuous and detailed. I also liked her characters Shahrzad and Khalid–full of conflict and depth.
This story is inspired by A Thousand and One Nights. The Caliph takes a bride everyday and by dawn, she’s strangled with a silk chord. When Shahrzad’s best friend becomes a bride and dies the next morning, Shahrzad vows revenge for her friend and volunteers to be the next bride. Khalid is intrigued by Shahrzad and she’s able to have her life spared by a story she’s told. Every night she’s able to save her own life and in the process spare other girls as well, but Shahrzad discovers there’s more to the Caliph than a man who’s set out to murder innocent young girls. Highly recommend this! And if you’ve read this, a novella was released last week The Crown and the Arrow. It’s the wedding day and night told from Khalid’s POV. It’s in eBook form and free on Amazon! What are you waiting for!? It’s Khalid! 😍
Next week’s theme is “Luck”. Such a fun theme! If you’d like to know more about my weekly book challenge and the themes, scroll through my profile or search through the tag #jennsbookishchallenge to see the other prompts.
