Can’t believe this is the last week of my book challenge #jennsbookishchallenge. It’s been a lot of fun and I’ve met so many wonderful people! If you haven’t had a chance to post, I hope you’ll be able to this week!
Week 4 “Love” Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel is my offering for today. You guys, this is magical realism at its best. Tía and Pedro’s story is full of heartbreak, delicious tension, and romance. Tía is the youngest of three daughters and is expected to carry on the tradition of caring for their mother. Tía falls in love with Pedro, but her mother won’t allow her to marry. Instead of being separated, Pedro marries Tía’s sister to be near Tía. You see where this is going? ☺️ The book is also filled with recipes that Tía learned from Natcha, her grandmother. My favorite chapter is Quail in Rose Petal Sauce. The movie is fantastic too!
I’ll be posting the weekly themes for March later this week!
